How much does an Outdoor Kitchen Cost?

Back to Help Centre

Working out a budget for an Outdoor Kitchen can be a challenging and often confusing exercise to undertake.

Whilst there are prefab and kit options available, they have many limitations in terms of finishes, and you generally have to try to set them up yourself. Outdoor conditions can be harsh, making material and fitting selections more critical than interior specifications.

For this article, we will concentrate on a custom-built joinery solution like a conventional internal kitchen that gives you the design flexibility to improve your entertaining space and increase the value of your home.

A typical Outdoor Kitchen project is broken up into four key areas of cost:

  • Cabinets – Door & Drawer Finishes
  • Benchtops
  • Appliances
  • Installation and connections

Through experience, we can put a % value on each of these critical areas. These are averages only, and variations can occur from small to larger projects. The quality of appliance choices and the combination of inclusions can also affect these percentages.

  • Joinery – 30%
  • Benchtops – 35%
  • Appliances – 25%
  • Installation – 10%

The cost of an Outdoor Kitchen project will depend entirely on the following criteria.

  • Design type – straight line, L-shape, U-shape, galley style or other
  • Overall size – generally a linear meter measurement.
  • The included appliances - which items and the quality of each one
  • Finishes: door style, doors or drawers, type and style of fittings and benchtops
  • Connections to services: gas, water, waste and power.

Because the list of considerations and variables is comprehensive, a project's price range is the same. Over the past 12 months, LimeTree Alfresco has designed, manufactured, and installed many custom projects. The price range of these projects was from $7,500 to $75,000.
